Foscote and East Foscote are bi este foxcotone 940 (15th) BCS 750, Foxcote 1166 RBE (p), 1189 GlastInq (p), 1198 Abbr, 1268Ass , Voxcote c. 1250Rental , Foscott 1659 WM xliv. The meaning may be 'fox earths or burrows' rather than 'fox cottages.' Cf. PN Wo xxxix.
