Etymology

Pipers Fm (6″) is Pypehurst 1263Ass , Pypherst 1294Ass (p), Pypeherst 1430Cl . The forms are late. It may be that Pype is the name of the small stream close at hand. Cf. Pipe in RN 327 and v. Introd. xxv.
