Etymology

Dirtham Lane (6″) preserves a trace of the early manor of Dritham 933 (13th) BCS 697, 1062 (13th) KCD 812, 1202 FF, Driteham 1086 DB, a lost Chertsey manor, stated in DB to be in Effingham Hundred. The name would seem to be a compound of OE  drit, 'dirt' and ham or hamm . Cf. Droitwich (PN Wo 285).
