Etymology

The name is from horna, a weak form of OE  horn 'a horn'.Used topographically, the word described a horn-shaped feature such as the sharp bend of North Brook and its valley a half mile to the north of Horn House. Horn no longer exists as a village, but its earthworks survive, v. horna .
