Etymology

'Ælfnōð's place of assembly', v. stōw . The site of the hundred moot was beside Alstoe House in Burley parish. The division is styled Alfnodestou wapentac 1086 DB, Alnestow (e ) wapentagio 1184, 1185 P but -hundred 1195 P and thereafter, v. vápnatak , hundred .
