Etymology

'Alfgeirr 's village,' v. þorp . The first element is the OWSc  personal name Alfgeirr (Lindkvist 21). Cf. Algarkirk (L), Alfgare DB, Algarescherche 1194 P. William de Eland was taxed under Annesley in 1327 (SR ).
