Etymology

Limpool Fm is Lyntepol 1263 Ipm, Lympol 1310 ib., 1327 Banco (p), 1327SR (p), Lympole 1384 Cl, 1415 Ch, 1515 NtIpm, 1664FF , Lympoyll 1541 LP. The forms are not very early and it is hard to be sure what the first element is, but the probabilities are in favour of OE  lind, 'lime-tree.' Hence 'lime-tree pool.'
