Etymology

Inholms Road (6″). Cf. Overinnam , Netherinnam c. 1300Welbeck , le Hynnam 14thThurgarton , le Neyerinnam 1331 AD iii, the Innam 1348 ib., Inhams 1709Trinity . This is the word innam , of Scandinavian origin, 'piece of land taken in,' 'intake,' discussed in NED s. v. The English cognate of ON  innám has been discussed in PN Sx 29, PN Sr 272, 362, PN Ess 583.
