Etymology

Lurcher Fm is Lerchehawe t. Ed 3Map , Lurcher Farm 1826 G. Professor Ekwall suggests that this may be a compound of OE  Lēofric and haga , hence 'Leofric -enclosure,' so named from its sometime owner or occupier, cf. Learchild (PN NbDu 132).No certainty is possible.
