Etymology

Blackmore Thick Fm is Blakemerethycke 1345, Blakemerehegh , Blamerethyke t. Ed 3For , Merethyck 1551 Pat, Blackmore Thick 1704 Woods Rept. There is a small mere close at hand. Already in the Vespasian Psalter we have OE  þiccan (pl.) denoting 'thickets,' and it is this word thick which we have here and elsewhere in Northamptonshire.
