Plowman's Furze

Early-attested site in the Parish of Evenley

Etymology

Plowman's Furze was usually called Plummer 's Furze according to Bridges (i, 168), and it is still Plomer's Firs on the 6″ map.In a Brackleydeed of c. 1255 (Magd ) we have John le Plomer , and Robert Plom (m )er in another of 1381. Probably this was the family which gave name to the Furze.
