Golden Spring (6″) is Goldewelle c. 1175Magd et passim , Goldwell 1791 Bridges. Cf. Goldwellehul (13th AD ii) in Chalcombe, Goldewelle (15thDaventry ) in Daventry, and Goldwell Fm in Charlton Abbots (Gl), 1377 Ass Goldwell . The reason for the name is not known.
