Etymology

According to Ekwall (DEPN) the early spellings suggest either 'Bōta 's tūn' or ' 's tūn', i.e. the OE  pers.n. Bōta (Redin 45) or the ODan , OSwed  pers.n. (v. Insley 96) and OE  tūn. The alternative is considered more likely.
