Etymology

'The broad clearing or glade in woodland', v. brād , lēah . A priory for Augustinian Canons was founded here c.1200 by Robert Burneby. Note MLat  prioria and prioratus , both meaning 'a priory', and MLat  domus 'a religious house'.
