Etymology

For forms and interpretation, v. Great Bowden supra .

Little Bowden, lying south of the river Welland which formed the original county boundary in the south-east, was transferred from Northants. in 1888. For the affixes, v. lȳtel , lasse and note MLat  parva 'small'.
