Etymology

'The farmstead, village of the Norwegians', v. Norðman (Norð- manna gen.pl.), tūn . The settlement lies in the Vale of Belvoir, hence ~ in le Vale 1338, v. val . The 1230 form preserves the original gen.pl. construction.
