Etymology

'Enclosure or fenced-in place for oxen,' v. (ge)hæg. The estate was granted to St Albans Abbey in 1007. Richard from Richard de Oxehay (1276StAlbansO ). Walronde from Waleran Tyeis (1282 ib.).
