Etymology

Waterend Fm (olim Thebridge) is Thebruge t. Hy 2 Dugd, 1490 Ipm, Thebrigge 1191 HMC ix, Thebrugge 1248FF , Tebrigge 1262Ass , Thefbrigge 1304 Ipm, Thebriggehalle 1433Cassio , Thebryge in Sanderyge 1538 Dugd, Thebridgehide al. Waterende 1599 FF, Thebridge al. Waterend 1612Recov and was perhaps the home of Robert ate Wattre (1294SR ). The place is by the Lea. This is a compound of OE  þēof , 'thief' and brycg .
