Etymology

Epcombs is Thepecāpe 1086 DB, Epeca (u )mpe 1278Ass , 1290 Abbr, Epecompe 1289, 1349FF , Epecombe 1348FF (p), Eppecampe 1291Ass , Eppecompe 1316 ib., Eppecombe 1394StJohns , Epcomez 1436 Cl, Epecombes 1529 FF. The second element is the rare OE  camp, 'open space,' etc., as in Sacombe supra 137. The first is probably the personal name Eoppa .
