Lower Bourne & Upper Bourne, Bourne Bridge, Bourne 1715 Will, named from a small stream running from Toadsmoor into Stroud Water, which was called Burnewater 1448, 1459, 1494MinAcct , cf. also Bourne bridge 1609AOMB 394. v. burna 'stream', brycg . This place is not connected with Bournes Green (118supra ).
