Narlwood Rocks, le Rokes , Northlode (roke )1497AOMB , Norwood Rocks 1830 M. The first theme is 'north passage (in the Severn)', v. norð , (ge)lād. The name denotes a bank of rocks in the middle of the river, round which the main navigable channel passes, v. roke 'rock'.
