Overton, Ouerton '1287Ass , Overeston als. Overston 1574, 1620FF .'Upper farmstead' or 'farmstead on the bank', v. ofer 2 (ufer ), uferra , tūn . There was another local farm called Neverton 1824 M, which is probably 'lower farmstead' (v. neoðera ).
