Etymology

Horsington Covert, of Horsendunes slead 779 (c. 1200) BCS 229, Horsynden 1495Rent , Horsenden 1524 ib, 1525MinAcct , Horssinton , Horsington 1597, 1598Talbot . 'Horsa's hill', v. dūn . On the OE  pers.n. Horsa cf. Horsenden, Horsendon (Bk 169, Mx 34). But the repetition of so rare a pers.n. in p.ns. of this type may point to OE  hors 'horse', with OE  gen.pl. horsa developing an inorganic -n (cf. Tengstrand 177).
