Etymology

Ireley Fm [ˈaiərli], (Bouchers ) Ireleyes 1586, 1588Comm , Longe Ireley 1588 ib, Hyerley 1777 M. 'Ira's clearing', v. lēah . The first el. is an OE  pers.n. Ira which is thought to occur in Irchester (Nth 192); OE  Ir (r )a , Ir (r )re is found as the name of a moneyer but that name is considered to be of Scandinavian origin (Björkman, ZEN 50).
