Etymology

'Dydda's boundary-farmstead', v. (ge)ǣre, tūn with the OE  pers.n. Dyd (d )a ; like Rodmarton (i, 105supra ) and Tormarton (56infra ), the parish is on the Wiltshire boundary. On the pers.n. Dyd (d )a cf. Dittenham (i, 25supra ).
