Etymology

Ladlecombe, Ledecome 1121 Glouc, Ledencome p. 1412 GloucHist, Ladelcombe 1537Rent , Laddlecombe 1838TA . v. cumb 'valley'; the spellings are too varied for certainty; topographically OE  hlædel 'ladle' might be used here figuratively for the small deep valley which opens out west of Cranham to form a spoon-shaped hollow.
