Etymology

'Cedda's enclosure', from the OE  pers.n. Cedda and worð. The surname forms Chedeleswrde , Chedeleswrthe (12, 1183–94 WinchLB) and Cheddreword (1160 RBE) probably belong to Chaddleworth (Brk).
