Etymology

'Blecci's hill', v. dūn . The pers.n. is an unrecorded OE  Blæcci , Blecci , which occurs in OE Blecces forda 1012 KCD 1307 (O 477) and is assumed for Bletchington (O 201). The contraction to Blais - may have been assisted by the local name Blaize Bailey (216infra ).
