Etymology

'Becca's ford', v. ford . The OE  pers.n. Becca , found also in Beckington and Beckley (Sx 464, 526), is recorded only in Widsith , unless Beocca is a variant of it (Redin 84). The ford was probably one across the Carrant between the village and Little Beckford.
