Etymology

'Valley of Bæcga's folk', v. -ingas , denu (often replaced by dūn 'hill'). The pers.n. is an OE  Bæcga , an unrecorded variant of Bacga ; it is found in Badg(e)worth (ii, 115 infra , So), Badgemore (O 65), and possibly in Badgworthy (D 59).
