Etymology

Morrell Roding (lost) is Roinges Morel 1202, 1237 Colch, Royng ' Oliveri 1238SR , Manerio Morelli 1319 FF, Morell 1349 Cl. This was a small detached part of Ongar Hundred, consisting of Cammass Hall infra and three farms. So called from the family of Ralph Morel (1205 Colch) and Oliverus de Roinges (a. 1272 Colch). Cf. Murrells in Stanford Rivers supra 78. The name was extant as late as 1848 (White 435).
