Sparrowhawk Fm, Sparrowhawk Wood (6″) is Spar (e )hau (e )k (es )eye 1231 Cl, 1247 FF, 1372 IpmR, 1374 Cl, 1420 FA, Sperhaueseie 1232 Cl, Sperhave Keshey 1448 IpmR, Sparrowhawkesey al. Sparrowhawkesfee 1560FF , Sparhawks Wood 1768 M. Either 'Sperhafoc 's low-lying land' (v. eg ), or, if -hey is the original, 'enclosure, enclosed wood' (v. (ge)hæg). The farm is near the Chelmer, the wood about half-a-mile away on higher ground.
