Etymology

Roskell Spring (6″) is Ruskeldflat c. 1250Kirkham , Ruskilflatt 1336 Ch. This name is probably identical in origin with the famous Danish place-name Roskilde 'horse spring,' from OScand  hross and kelda . On the latter name, cf. Chambers, Introduction to Beowulf 18–19.
