Etymology

'Hunkel 's farm,' v. by . The pers. name is found in DB as Hunchil , from whom an unidentified DB manor Hunchilhuse (WRY) was named. It is from an unrecorded OScand  *Húnkell (Húnketill ) or *Hundkell (NP 70).
