Fowthorpe (6″) is Foletorp , Folethorp (e )12thBardney , Folthorp 1270 Ebor, Fowthorpfyld 1544 FF. 'Foli 's hamlet,' from the OScand nick-name Foli (LindB) and þorp . Dr Knudsen notes that Foli is recorded in ODan (DaPN 307).
