Etymology

Fish Holm Barn is Fisholine (sic for Fisholme ) 1498 Test, Fisholme als. Lady Fisholme 1587 FF, Fish (e )holme 1588 FF, 1650 ParlSurv. 'Water-meadow near which fish were caught,' from OE  fisc and holmr . Cf. Baswick supra 72. Dr G. Knudsen notes the parallel Danish place-name Fiskholm (DaSN(Sj) iii, 69).
