Etymology

'Outlying farm' later held by the Bulmer family, OE , ON  þorp.Bishop Kellaw made a grant of free warren to Ralph de Bulmer in all his lands of Thorp Bulmer and Nesbit by charter dated 19th November 1312 (Surtees I61).
