Etymology

Penmore Rd (ST 613200), Lytelpeynemer '1378Digby , Gt Penmore , Lt Penmore , Yonder Penmore , Penmore Md , Penmore Orchd 1838TA , second el. probably mere 1 'pool' with later replacement by mōr 'marshy ground' as in Ashmore 2201; the first el. is uncertain without earlier spellings, but it may be the gen.pl. pēona of pēo , pīe 'gnat or other insect'.
