Etymology

'Man(n)'s farm', from the OE  pers.n. Man (n ) and tūn, cf. Manston YW 4115 which is probably identical in origin.Redelane is Redlane hundred supra . It may be of interest to note that a Henry le Man is listed as a tax-payer in Manston in 1327SR and 1332 SR, although his surname is probably to be derived from man (n ) in the sense 'servant' rather than from Man (n ).
