Silverlake Ctgs, Silverlake Fm (ST 615154), forlango iuxta Sewelake 1454Sher , Sewellake 1590Salis , 1614Digby , Sevylake 1605 Fowler, Sevie Lake 1733DROMap , Seven Acres Silver Lake 1843TA , v. lacu 'stream'; the first part of the name may represent 'seven springs' from seofon and well(a) (for this common combination v. EPN s.v. seofon ). The late alteration to Silver - is due to folk etymology.
