Etymology

'Drēama's farmstead or manor', from an OE  pers.n. *Drēama (gen.sg. -n ) and tūn, this alternating in the early forms with 'farmstead or manor called after Drēama' with -ingtūn replacing the genitival construction. For the pers.n., cf. OE  Drēamwulf (Searle 169), Drēmca (Redin 156), both formed from OE  drēam 'joy, music'.
