Etymology
In 1894 the civil par. of Buckland Ripers was annexed to Radipole, and part of Radipole was added to Melcombe Regis. In 1933 part of Radipole was transferred to the borough of Weymouth and the remainder to the par. of Chickerell for civil purposes (Kelly).
