Etymology

Boy -names have already been dealt with s. n. Boycott (PN Wo 304), where it is suggested that these names may contain early examples of the word boy , which hitherto has not been noted before c. 1300 as a significant word. To the names there given we may add Boyton (Co), DBBoietune , and Boiemulna , the old name of Iffiey Mill (O), found in Cartae Antiquae c. 1185.
