Etymology

Probably 'Tulla 's slough or miry place,' v. sloh . For this pers. name cf. Snelling Tullinges sunu (Earle 262) in a Devon document of c. 1090, and Tulwick (Berks)Tullewyk 1284Ass . The absence of gh spellings for the second element is curious.
