Etymology

As this place is on the Dalch, a river with a Celtic name, it cannot be derived, as suggested by Blomé (124), from the old river-name Cury . It looks as if it might be connected with ME  curre , 'dog,' perhaps used as a nickname. Cf. Curham infra 549 and Alexander Corra (1330SR ) (Devon).
