Etymology

The name seems to be identical with Kemble (Gl)Kemele 682 (15th) BCS 63, Kemeleshage 956 (15th) BCS 922. This is probably a British name. Professor Ekwall suggests connexion with Camulos , the name of a Celtic deity.
