Etymology

This is probably the same hill-name as Lewdon in Thelbridge and Lewdon in Cheriton supra 396, 428. If the first form is correct, it would suggest the weak adjective hlēowa , rather than the noun hlēow as the first element of the compound. The farm lies below the top of a hill.
