Etymology

In OGer  we have a series of names Hufo , Huba , Huvika , Huvilo , Huffinc which suggest a pers. name stem Huf -.We have also in England in the 12th cent, a Lincolnshire pers. name Huf , which suggests that the same stem was used in this country. Hyfa may be a mutated derivation of this stem huf -.Hence, 'Hyfa 's tree,' v. treow .
