Etymology

'Place abounding in holly,' v. holegn . William Buzun held one of the manors in 1242 (Fees). Other parts of the manor were held by Buckfast Abbey and the family of Urgeleys or Ergiuleys (Buckfast 126, 1303 FA, Ch).
