Etymology

The first element may be a ME  surname Comere , of nickname origin. The second may be either stan or tun . Hence, 'Comer 's farm' or 'stone.' Cf. John le Comere (1316 Pat) in Stoke Gabriel parish infra and Comber's Cross supra 122.
